Choi Jin-sil, South Korean Star Actress, Found Dead Inside Home from Apparent Suicide

Choi Jin-sil, known in her native South Korea as “the nation’s actress,” has been found dead inside her Seoul home from an apparent suicide.

According to police Choi was found with an elastic band around her neck. The band had been tied to a rail on her shower.

Choi, 40, had reportedly been suffering from depression and had been taking medication. Her mother told police that she had been upset Wednesday evening and after coming home she locked herself in the bathroom.

While police did not find a suicide note they did learn she had sent at least two text messages to her make-up assistant asking her to watch after her two children.
