AUBURN, Calif. -- A judge has agreed to release the confidential medical records of a man accused of starting a fire at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville.

Alexander Piggee is facing five charges, including arson, criminal threats and burglary in connection with the Oct. 21 blaze.

At his last court hearing, the judge postponed arraignment because of evidence that Piggee may not be mentally competent to stand trial.

On Monday, a judge agreed to release Piggee's records from five different hospitals to prosecutors.

Piggee's attorney refused comment Monday.

Those hospitals include Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, Woodland Memorial Hospital, Sutter Roseville Hospital, Dameron Hospital in Stockton and an undisclosed Kaiser hopsital.

In a medical record from the Woodland memorial, dated Sept. 27, just days before the mall fire, a licensed vocational nurse wrote of Piggee: "You are anxious and depressed and feel at times suicidal."

A box was checked that Piggee was a danger to himself, and that he was placed on a 72-hour hold.

Another record shows he was prescribed OxyContin, Prozac and Temazepam. Piggee's signature was on that document.

Four days later, a medical record from Mercy San Juan said he was given a different prescription of Ativan.

Psychiatrist Dr. James Margolis says that combination of drugs may have had a negative effect on Piggee's mental health.

A Friday court date is set so that court can get more medical records in the case.
