EPPING: Depressed woman killed herself on train track

1:09pm Friday 18th June 2010

A WOMAN suffering from depression killed herself on a train track, a coroners' court heard.

Chelmsford Coroners Court was told Ann Shimmen, 48, of St John's Road, Epping, was killed by a train at Harlow Mill Station when she went on to the track. There were no suspicious circumstances.

Ms Shimmen suffered from depression and a post mortem toxicology report at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, showed at the time of her death she had a level of alcohol in her body equivalent to more than three times the legal drink drive limit.

She had also taken three types of anti-depressant and anti-psychotic drugs.

Assistant deputy coroner Eleanor McGann recorded a verdict of suicide.
