A Wwestcountry man was so fed up with his neighbours that he told his doctor he was going to kill them, a court heard yesterday.
Suffering from depression he claimed had partly been caused by constant harassment from the family living next door, Dennis Davies visited his GP for a repeat prescription of anti-depressants.
But during the consultation at the Kingskerswell Medical Centre, South Devon, Davies told Dr Nicholas D'Arcy that "enough was enough" and he was going to knock on the neighbours door and kill them.
The GP was so shocked that he phoned police, who arrested the 40-year-old Davies at home in Brixham three hours later.
Yesterday Davies pleaded guilty at Torbay Magistrates' Court to a charge under the Public Order Act of using threatening behaviour, which caused harassment, alarm or distress to another person.
Davies was given a six-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay costs of ?75.
Michael Ashby, prosecuting, said: "He wanted the doctor to believe that he was going to carry out the threat."
Kate Huey-Smith, defending, said Davies had had problems with his neighbours since they moved in five years ago, adding: "He had no intention of carrying out the threats."
