A DOCTOR who was looking after rugby legend Don Fox admitted more care should have been taken to prevent the fall which lead to his death, an inquest heard.

Wakefield Coroners heard Mr Fox had been admitted to Fieldhead Hospital in August this year so doctors could monitor his anti-depressant medication and try to find out why the 72-year-old kept feeling dizzy and falling over.

Today (WED) Dr Wamemba Zulu, senior house officer at Fieldhead, said staff were aware Mr Fox had a history of falls.

Peter Evans, a lawyer acting of behalf of the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust, asked Dr Zulu: "Would it be fair to say that with the benefit of hindsight more attention would have been paid to the fact that Don was having falls and where something could be done about that?"

Dr Zulu replied: "Yes".

The inquest heard that Mr Fox have suffered four falls on August 20 while at Fieldhead Hospital.

He died a day later as a result of fatal head injuries caused by one of the falls, which was unwitnessed.

The inquest continues.
