A SCHOOLGIRL screamed at the top of her lungs as a drugged driver bashed and stabbed her father after crashing into their car, the District Court heard today.

Year 12 student Laura Sinclair could only stand by and watch as Mark Jeffrey Hendrickx beat her father, John Sinclair, with a pole and then pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the back.

In her victim impact statement read to the District Court today, Ms Sinclair said the bashing was the "worst experience" of her life.

"All I could do was stand by screaming at the top of my lungs," she said.

Hendrickx, 32, of Waterloo Corner, appeared in court for sentencing submissions after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated endangering life, aggravated causing serious harm, aggravated threatening to kill and aggravated causing harm.

The charges arose out of a series of car crashes and road rage events at Salisbury, Greenfields and Parafield Gardens in September last year.

Hendrickx crashed into a police car that had been chasing him, crashed into the Sinclairs' car and then later crashed into another man's car, whose driver he also attacked.

He was eventually subdued by police with capsicum spray.

His lawyer, Greg Mead, told the court Hendrickx "sincerely" apologised to his victims for his actions.

Mr Mead said Hendrickx had smoked cannabis, consumed alcohol and taken several tablets prescribed for his depression on the day of his rampage.

"It's fair to say, but for the combination of drugs and alcohol, it's unlikely any of this would have happened," he said.

He said Hendrickx's medication for depression had a "synergistic effect" with the alcohol he consumed and could result in disinhibition, compulsive behaviour and aggression.

Hendrickx was also left with little memory of the events of the night, Mr Mead said.

Hendrickx has been in custody since his arrest last year.

Judge Kevin Nicholson remanded Hendrickx in custody for sentencing next month.
