An inquest in Oxford has heard that former Renault Formula 1 designer Bill Millar killed himself because he was suffering from stress and depression.

Mr Millar, 53, from Minster Lovell, near Witney, died from a single gunshot wound to the head at the Renault F1 racing team's headquarters at Whiteways Technical Centre, near Enstone, on July 30.

Today, at Oxford Coroner's Court, an inquest heard the father-of-two was taking medication to combat depression and was suffering from high blood pressure at the time of his suicide.

The inquest heard that the night before he shot himself, he had told his wife he thought he was probably going to get the sack.
