A Grimston mum who lost one of two daughters to suicide is appealing for readers to tune into BBC Radio 4 on Sunday to find out how they can help prevent others going through the same sorrow.
BBC Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman will be highlighting the work of Papyrus, a charity dedicated to preventing suicide in young people.
He will also be appealing to listeners for donations when he presents the weekly Radio 4 Appeal programme at 7.55am and 9.26pm.
Mum Jackie Denny (57), of Stebbings Close, became a member of Papyrus shortly after her daughter, Catherine Thorpe, committed suicide at the age of 24 ten years ago.
Miss Thorpe, of Lynn, took an overdose of anti-depressants in a Hunstanton pub after telling a loved one she felt trapped and wanted to finish her life.
Mrs Denny said although ten years seems a long time, the pain of losing a child will always be with her.
"It was very hard at the time. She was depressed and it was hard to get any help for a mental illness apart from medication," she said.
"There are so many pressures on young people today and so many suicides, but Papyrus is doing a lot to help. More people need to be made aware of its work, and as it's run on a voluntary basis, fundraising is always needed."
Mrs Denny is a strong supporter of the charity, and raised money for the cause last July by running in the British 10km London Run.
Papyrus was founded in 1997 by parents who had lost a child to suicide. Its activities include providing information for concerned parents and carers of suicidal young people, encouraging support for those who have been bereaved by suicide and operating a helpline.
Mr Paxman's Radio 4 appeal will be repeated on Thursday at 3.27pm. Last year, listeners raised more than £500,000 for charities through the show.
