When police arrived to the crime scene, they said the shooter showed no emotion, and he claimed to be sick with depression.

An early morning shooting leaves one woman dead, and her husband in custody.

Police were called to Witt Street, on the city's Westside, just before 8:30am on Sunday morning.

Police say 64 year old Juan Loredo shot his wife, 60 year old Aurora Loredo in the front yard of their home, but shocked neighbors say they just don't understand why.

"It's sad for the children to come out to see that," said neighbor Cynthia Ipina. "They've never given any problems. This is out of the blue that this happened."

Ipina says gunsots are an unfamiliar sound on the quiet street.

"We're shocked. The entired neighborhood is shocked by this," said Ipina.

But she says what they found when they came outside was even more shocking.

"Someone got shot, and it was the lady of the house," said Ipina.

She says the Loredo's had lived in the neighborhood a long time.

"We've been in the neighborhood about 19 years and they were here before we were," said Ipina.

Ipina says Juan was taking medication for an illness that may have been the cause of this sudden violence.

"He was so ill, so I don't believe he even realized what he did," said Ipina.

Now police are left to investigate why this happened and what will happen next.

When police arrived to the crime scene, they said Juan showed no emotion, and he claimed to be sick with depression.

He has been booked on murder charges.
