Murder suspect Alex Pfister waived his final hearing Friday morning in Chardon Municipal Court. Pfister is accused of stabbing his wife.
Pfister's attorney, Geauga County Public Defender R. Robert Umholtz, said the case will now be reviewed by a grand jury for possible indictment in Geauga County Court of Common Pleas. Pfister has been charged with aggravated murder.
Marileyda Pfister, 30, had filed for a civil protection order from her husband the week before.
Richard Conroy, a friend of Alex Pfister, attended the court hearing. He and the 33-year-old Pfister worked together at a chemical company.
Conroy said Pfister had recently changed his depression medication after his wife filed for the protection order.
On July 3, Pfister called 911 from his home in Claridon Township and told the dispatcher that he had stabbed his wife.
Deputies responded and arrested Pfister. Marileyda Pfister was taken to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
