A man who claimed he was intoxicated by the antidepressant Prozac and other drugs was sentenced to life in prison for killing his estranged wife.

Brad Voorhees, 33, of Saginaw, Minn., will have to serve at least 30 years before becoming eligible for release.
Voorhees had contended his judgment was so clouded by a mixture of alcohol, methamphetamine and Prozac that he didn't know what he was doing when he killed Carolyn Seitz, 25, his wife of three years.

He shot Seitz 11 times last August outside a house in Duluth where she cared for two disabled adults. He testified he had gone there to commit suicide.

Jurors said they were not persuaded by his defense of ``involuntary intoxication'' when they found him guilty last Thursday.

Defense attorney Richard Hansen filed a motion Tuesday requesting a new trial.
