Lynn Richards, pictured here from her profile at Caldwell Banker's website, died in Oct. 2007 in an apparent murder-suicide. Authorities believe her husband, Dan, shot her several times before shooting himself.

DRAPER - The bodies of two people were discovered at a home at the south end of the Salt Lake Valley on Thursday -- in what authorities say appears to be a murder-suicide.

A home improvement technician contacted authorities after entering the home and finding no sign of the homeowners.  The technician was there to perform remodeling work but when no one answered his calls, he contacted authorities.

After authorities arrived, the bodies of Dan Richards, 55, and his wife Lynn were found in an upstairs bedroom.  Officials say it appears that the man shot his wife several times and then shot himself.  Both died.

Investigators are trying to determine a motive for the incident since the couple had never had a known incident of domestic disturbance before this week.  On Wednesday night, authorities say they received reports of a possible domestic incident at the couple's home but when an officer arrived, the home appeared quiet.  After receiving no response from anyone inside, the officer left.  It is possible that the shootings occurred prior to the officer's visit.

Lynn Richards, 52, worked as a real estate agent for Caldwell Banker and used to live in Hollywood, Calif., where she worked for movie studios and law firms.

The couple moved to Utah in 2003 after they were married to be closer to Dan's children, according to Lynn's profile page on Caldwell Banker's website.
