DEPRESSION medication was to blame for an off-duty police officer running his car off the road and appearing "intoxicated" at a licensed venue, a court has heard.
Senior Constable Steven Lee, of St Kitts Way, Bonny Hills, was found guilty of driving under the influence of anti-depressant prescription drugs Zoloft and/or Kalma, despite entering a not-guilty plea.
Magistrate Thomas Hodgson sentenced Lee a $600 fine plus $79 court costs and a six-month license suspension on Wednesday at the Port Macquarie Local Court.
Lee will appeal the sentence in the district court at a later date.
