<div><font size="3">Paragraph five reads:&nbsp; &quot;Defence solicitor Kellie Grainger said Hedegaard was &ldquo;not herself&rdquo; on Friday because she&#39;d been prescribed morphine at the hospital following her bike crash.<br /><br />Paragraph eight reads:&nbsp; &quot;The morphine conflicted with<strong><u> <em>medication</em> Hedegaard was<em> already</em> taking for <em>depression, </em></u></strong>Ms Grainger said.&quot;<br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au/story/2010/03/30/accused-uses-accident-as-defence-for-stealing/">http://www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au/story/2010/03/30/accused-uses-accident-as-defence-for-stealing/</a> <br /><br /><br /></font><h2><strong>56yo woman on stealing charges </strong></h2><font size="3">30th March 2010 <br /><br />A WOMAN who was hit by a car while cycling in Hervey Bay last week has appeared in court on stealing charges.<br /><br />Susan Lynette Hedegaard loudly sobbed while sitting in the dock of Hervey Bay Magistrates Court yesterday.<br /><br />She had been in police custody since Friday morning when she was arrested.<br /><br />She appeared in court yesterday on three counts of stealing.<br /><br />Defence solicitor Kellie Grainger said Hedegaard was &ldquo;not herself&rdquo; on Friday because she&#39;d been prescribed morphine at the hospital following her bike crash.<br /><br />The 56-year-old was cycling at Torquay Road, Scarness, on Wednesday when she was struck by a Toyota Camry about 9.15am.<br /><br />She was taken to hospital suffering bruised ribs and a cut to the head.<br /><br />The morphine conflicted with medication Hedegaard was already taking for depression, Ms Grainger said.<br /><br />Hedegaard applied for bail but magistrate Graeme Tatnell rejected the request.<br /><br />&ldquo;As you can see... she&#39;s extremely distressed by the four days spent in custody,&rdquo; Ms Grainger said before adding that the brief taste of custody could serve as a deterrent for her client.<br /><br />&ldquo;She&#39;s always got an excuse, Ms Grainger,&rdquo; Mr Tatnell said.<br /><br />He told Hedegaard that she&#39;d been told &ldquo;25 times&rdquo; not to commit such offences. She will reappear in court on Thursday.<br />&nbsp;<br /></font></div>
