Man convicted of assault

A Gulgong man pleaded guilty in Mudgee Local Court last month to five offences relating to an incident with his former girl friend and a male friend of the woman.

The court heard Richard Dean Henderson, 29, of Dunedoo Road, forced his way into the woman’s residence on August 2, 2009, and punched the man, causing a split lip and a lump to the back of his head.

Henderson pushed the female victim, closed the front door and stood in front of it.

He was also alleged to have threatened the woman with a knife and she told police she had feared for her life.

When interviewed by police, Henderson told police he had been prescribed with medication for depression and on the day of the incident had not taken his medication.

He was charged with one charge of stalk/intimidate with intent to cause physical/mental harm and two charges of common assault over the incident.

Magistrate Jan Stevenson placed Henderson on concurrent two-year good behaviour bonds on each offen
