Paragraph 5 reads: "According to the criminal complaint, Meseberg called a friend June 7 and said he was having a panic attack because he was out of medication for his depression. When she arrived at his Railroad Street home in Rio, police said Meseberg pointed the gun at her. When the woman left the home, Meseberg allegedly followed her outside and continued pointing the gun at her until she got in a vehicle and left. A neighbor reported the incident to police."

On March 22, 2004 the FDA listed 'panic attacks' as a side effect of SSRIs in their General Warning to the Public. Panic attacks are also common in withdrawal.

A Rio man accused of having more than nine pounds of marijuana and who prosecutors allege pointed a gun at a woman's head as she tried to help him during a "panic attack" at his Railroad Street home in June was ordered held on a $5,500 cash bond Wednesday.

Thomas Meseberg, 42, allegedly told officers the marijuana, estimated to be worth more than $9,000 on the street, was for personal use.

"Meseberg said he has smoked marijuana every day since the age of 9," the criminal complaint stated.

He is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, negligent handling of a weapon, disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted of each of the offenses, Meseberg could be sentenced to more than 14 years in prison and fined up to $45,000.

Meseberg told a Rio Police Department officer he "did not want to continue and was going to shoot himself."

Five guns were located in a safe with 10 boxes of ammunition and more than 4,000 grams of marijuana was found in a safe in the garage and throughout the house, according to the criminal complaint. Columbia County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Michael Raimer assisted in the investigation and said that much low-grade marijuana would be worth more than $9,000 on the street.

Meseberg told investigators the pot was for personal use and he would go through that much in about two months.

Police said they also discovered a large number of bags containing marijuana seeds and stems as well as a scale and numerous smoking devices. Investigators said they also found pills of acetaminophen with hydrocodone, a controlled substance, at the residence. He is being held in Columbia County Jail.
