Depressed man hanged himself after love split

A depressed man hanged himself two months after splitting from his girlfriend, an inquest heard today.

Jarrett Lyn Evans, 41, was found hanging from a loft hatch at his home in Haslemere Road, Windsor, on August 9.

He was discovered by his ex Amanda Clayton and a friend who had become worried after he stopped answering his phone.

The British Airways engineer had been prescribed antidepressants and offered counselling following the end of his two-year relationship, the court heard.

Friends, who had no indication he might take his own life, had noticed 'he was not quite right' and had tried to show him the positives in his life.

Officers found a note on his bed which began 'I'm so sorry, I just can't cope anymore' and went on to apologise to various important people in his life.

Recording a verdict of suicide at Maidenhead Town Hall today, Berkshire coroner Peter Bedford said: "He took his own life whilst suffering from depression."
