STOCKTON, CA - A Stockton mother accused of attacking a school principal over how her son was dressed will not be required to post bail and will be released from jail on her own recognizance.

Pami Gibbs was booked into jail Monday after allegedly hitting the principal of Fillmore Elementary School in the face. The principal had told Gibbs' son he either had to change the shirt he was wearing or turn it inside out because it did not adhere to the school's dress code. The shirt had skull images on it.

Gibbs faces two felony charges of battery. A previous misdemeanor charge of hate crime was not included in criminal complaint.

Twice Wednesday in court, Gibbs mouthed obscene language at news cameras taping the arraignment.

Outside of court, Gibbs' grandfather said she is dealing with a number of issues.

"Anger management for one. She's had trouble with depression and her medicine. She didn't take her medicine that morning," said Bill Black.

The principal was taken to an area hospital and later released.

Gibbs was ordered by San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Franklin Stephenson to remain away from both the school and the woman she is accused of attacking.
