Poston sentenced Kevin Mirpuri on charges of second-degree <strong>murder</strong> and illegal use of a firearm in the 2009 shooting death of Jonathan McCalister. <br /><br />Mirpuri, 25, pleaded guilty to the charges in April. <br /><br />According to court records, Mirpuri accused McCalister of trying to rob him as they waited on April 26, 2009, with several other commuters at the bus loop in the 1000 block of Monticello Ave. <br /><br />McCalister told Mirpuri no one was going to rob him and lifted his shirt to show Mirpuri that he was un armed. Mirpuri then shot McCalister three times and walked away, according to court records. <br /><br />On Friday, two doctors testified that Mirpuri suffered from <strong>depression</strong> and had been prescribed <strong>medication</strong> .
