A MAN who could not cope with the break-up of his marriage killed his wife before throwing himself 530ft to his death, an inquest heard.
Dennis Wimpory, 60, stabbed his wife, Jean, 57, several times in the neck, and jaw, at their family home.
Police found her blood-soaked body on the kitchen floor at their home in Braywick Road, Maidenhead, on May 19.
The kitchen knife her jilted husband used for the murder lay by her side.
An inquest held at Windsor's Guildhall yesterday (Thursday), heard Mr Wimpory then drove to Beachy Head - an area known as a notorious suicide spot in East Sussex, and plummeted to his death.
The court heard that the couple had been having relationship difficulties that Mr Wimpory could not to 'deal with'. He had been prescribed anti-depressants by his GP and was recommended for counselling.
Mr Wimpory's teary-eyed daughter, Karen, 25, told the court: "My parents had been together for 40 years and married for 34 years. On Mother's Day on March 26 my father asked if my mother wanted to go to Prague but she was reluctant. Mother explained that she was not happy and they could not carry on as they were. He asked for another chance.
"My father and mother differed in their approach to financial matters.
"Mother was for living, while father was concerned with the cost of things."
The alarm was raised on Friday, May 19, when Sussex police were alerted to an abandoned car parked at Beachy Head. The blue Ford Mondeo, registered to Mr Wimpory, led the police to the couple's Maidenhead home, where they made the gruesome discovery.
Sussex Police officers found Mr Wimpory's crumpled body at the foot of the cliff hours later.
Detective Superintendent Steve Tolmie, said: "There was no answer at the house, then the officers looked through the letterbox and saw a body lying in the kitchen.
A post-mortem carried out by Home Office pathologist Rob Chapman revealed she had sustained severe stab wounds to her neck and jaw.
Berkshire Coroner Peter Bedford said: "This is a tragic, awful story but I do not think there is anything the family or friends could have done.
"No one could have anticipated what was about to happen."
The coroner returned a verdict of unlawful killing in relation to Mrs Wimpory, and one of suicide for Mr Wimpory.
