A NORLANE man accused of sexual assault charges and killing two kittens by stomping on the head of one and slamming the other against a wall, has been remanded in custody.

Theo Abbott, 30, of Forster St, appeared in Geelong Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty.

He is also charged with aggravated burglary, assault with intent to rape, intentionally causing injury, criminal damage, unlawful assault, indecent assault and false imprisonment.

According to police, the charges stem from an incident that occurred about 2am Saturday when Mr Abbott allegedly forced entry into a house at Corio.

Police claim that once inside the house Mr Abbott stomped on the head of one kitten, killing it instantly before picking up a second kitten and slamming it against a wall.

The kitten died a short time later.

Dr Martine Marich, appearing for Mr Abbott, said there would be no application for bail but asked the court to note her client had some custodial issues.

Dr Marich said Mr Abbott was on medication for depression and anxiety as well as penicillin following the surgical removal of a cyst from his lower abdomen.

Magistrate Ron Saines remanded Mr Abbott in custody to reappear at Geelong Magistrates' Court on December 17.
