COVENTRY - The woman arrested on charges of breaking into her ex-boyfriend's house while armed with a knife was released on a $100,000 bond Monday after her arraignment in Vernon Superior Court.

The woman, Patricia Larrow, 46, of Plainfield, has been charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree burglary, carrying a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.

According to a statement given by the ex-boyfriend to police, he found Larrow in his driveway Saturday afternoon when he came home from work, but she then went back inside the house, and confronted him.

Larrow began "punching at him," according to police. The man subdued her and called police. The man told police that he found beer cans and a knife on his table after she was subdued, according to his statement.

The public defender asserted that under state law, Larrow had not attempted to commit murder.

While Larrow told police that she had brought the knife into her ex-boyfriend's home with the desire to kill him, she changed her mind before he arrived home, the public defender said.

A lifelong resident of the state, Larrow has worked for 13 years for the Rogers Corp. as an engineering assistant.

Larrow has two children, 21 and 18, who live with her ex-husband, according to court documents.

Prosecutors said Larrow is currently taking the anti-depressant Zoloft, and had been off the medication for about a week prior to the incident.

Larrow was "seriously drunk" when she broke into her ex-boyfriend's house, according to the man's statement to police.

Judge Patricia L. Harleston reduced her $250,000 bond to $100,000, and recommended that she immediately seek substance abuse counseling.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 26.
