DOVER PLAINS - Two high school girls were arrested Tuesday on charges they were driving a vehicle with their ability impaired by antidepressants.

State police at Dover Plains said they arrested the girls, ages 16 and 17, after receiving a call from Dover High School about 8 a.m.

Police said the girls told school officials they were sick, then left the campus in a friend's car. Police said they found the girls later on Route 22 in the Town of Pawling.

Authorities said the girls admitted they had taken knowingly excessive dosages of the drug Zoloft. In addition, police said the 16-year-old possessed an altered driver's license.

Both girls were charged with driving their while ability was impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.

The 16-year-old also was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony.
