Former police officer dead in his car

A FORMER police officer killed himself an inquest heard.
Timothy Casey, 54, suffered from depression and had tried to kill himself before.

His partner Denise Smith told the inquest she left their home in Watergreen Lane, Soyland, on January 19 to go to work.

When she returned that evening his car was not there although the lights outside the house were on.

She found Mr Casey sitting in his car parked in a nearby field. The engine was running and a pipe was attached to the exhaust.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Casey had taken an overdose of antidepressants and his death was not due to the exhaust fumes.

The verdict was suicide.
