Warner in the weeks before Warner was charged with attacking his wife. <br />Dr. Mark Radzicki defended his decision to prescribe medication for Warner without first seeing him, saying Warner told him he had been diagnosed as having attention deficit disorder coupled with depression.<br /><br />Warner, 41, of 263 Scantic Road, former deputy chief of Hampden&#39;s volunteer fire department, is accused of assaulting his wife, Robin, on June 5 in their home by threatening her with a shotgun while she was handcuffed to a chair.<br /><br />He has pleaded innocent to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and making threats to commit <strong>murder</strong>.<br /><br />Warner is to present a defense that he was mentally impaired at the time of the offenses and is expected to have an expert testify today on his behalf. Judge Bertha D.
