A 26-year-old man is expected to be charged with attempted murder today in connection with the shooting of a 13-year-old girl, authorities said.

The girl was shot in the right forearm late Sunday afternoon with a .22-caliber rifle, police said.

The shooting occurred outside an auditorium where the girl had been rollerskating.

The girl was taken to a Fargo hospital in satisfactory condition.

Police later found Cary Vasgerau of Page unconscious in a tree.

He was arrested and taken to a local hospital.

Police said Vasgerau had been drinking heavily and was on medication for depression .

Authorities have not released a motive in the shooting, but said Vesgarau and the victim knew each other and had apparently argued before.
