Family of Missing Genesee County Man Speaks Out

TOWN OF DARIEN, NY - The Genesee County Sheriff's Office scaled back their search for 66-year-old Jeffrey Fredericks. But family members say they will continue their search until he's found. Fredericks was last seen Wednesday morning at his Sumner Road home, in the Town of Darien.

For days now, family members, volunteers, and law enforcement officers have been searching by air, and on the ground for Fredericks.

"K-9 officers" joined the search on Sunday, walking through the thick woods that surrounds the Frederick's home. Family members say Fredericks has suffered from bouts of depression, and is on various medications. Some of his meds are being blamed for his recent abnormal behavior.

"He could be hurt, we don't know. We have to get as many people from our community. We just need people here ready to just go there and look for him cause we want him home."

Fredericks is a long-time maintainace worker in the Pembroke School District. Before his depression, family members say he was a man who loved the outdoors and riding his horses. The day he went missing Daughter Michelle Bilotte says both his cars were parked at the home, a shotgun was missing, and he was nowhere to be found.

"My mother said that she would see if he went to work, and he was a no call, no show which in all the years he's worked at Pembroke School District, he has never not called off work."

The family has been searching a heavily wooded area near their home. Bilotte says law enforcement officers were able to pick up Frederick's cell phone signal, giving them a better idea of where to search.

"We have an idea of an area where the phone is, but because it's so thick back there we have to have a lot of people because you could be right next to somebody, and not even see him because it's so thick."

Now the family is asking for the public's help.

"We're just asking anybody with ATV's, with horses, or just want to walk to come out here at our house and just look for him."

For now, the condition and whereabouts of Fredericks, remains uncertain.

"He could be hurt, we don't know."

"He's my father, and I want him home. I'll do whatever way that is."

Fredericks is a White male. He's approximately 5-feet, 11 inches tall, and he weighs about 180-pounds. He also has blue eyes, and salt and pepper hair.
